A new tactic for haircuts

For Chase's second haircut, Chris found a place in the mall specializing in kids' haircuts. Loaded with fun decor, toys, and TVs, this had to be easier, right? Chase still hated it and screamed for most of the cut, but it was better than the first time around. We'll go back. God bless the ladies that work there for their patience and steady hands!

Chase's first sentence

"Daddy, look, hat."

Another Halloween festival

This weekend's Halloween festival was at our neighborhood park -- lots of great kid games and a bouncy obstacle course, Chase's favorite. He sported his pumpkin costume (thanks, GG!) and owl treat bag.

Thank you Chase for posing with the hat for one picture!

Our struggle to get the hat on and Chase's struggle to take it off.

Halloween festival

Last weekend we went to an amazing Halloween festival at a local farm.

Exploring hay caves

Who knew that piles of feed corn are so much fun? Hunters, Chase is ready to be a big help during deer season.

Sooooo ready to go down the slide -- the other kid taking his time at the bottom has no idea what's about to hit him

Mmmmm, milk

Chase did this on his own with a newly empty milk jug. Just don't put it back in the fridge, Chase. Did you learn this from your father??

In other developments, he amazingly asked for his diaper to be changed on Saturday. What sounded like "butter" was his attempt to say diaper, we realized only after he grabbed a diaper and wipes and began to lie down. "Hello, Mom and Dad, MY DIAPER IS WET!!"

Another new thing is his aversion to pants. Shorts okay, pants not. He cries and squirms when I try to put them on. Just in time for fall and cooler weather.

The perfect remedy for teething

Over the weekend, Chase was in the midst of his worst teething yet. He was a cranky, drool-covered, sleep-deprived, chewing little rascal. Add recovering from an ear infection, not eating well, and an oncoming cold, and it was more fun than we could wish for. Poor guy! In addition to Tylenol, we've found that a dose of cartoons featuring Dora, Diego, Manny, or Mickey is a great remedy. Here's what happens when Chase settles in to watch. His fascination is disturbing and wonderful at the same time.

PS - A few days into the week, he's much better now. Back to sleeping through the night, eating great, and being his happy little self.

Chase & a new friend

Chase met a new friend last weekend, the daughter of my old friends Alison & Gary. Introducing Chase to this cutie pie named Lilly caused some confusion, since he's familiar with a different sort of Lilly. This didn't stop them from bonding over golf clubs and putting practice.
